The Oregon Sea Grant is seeking a Project and Event Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Oregon Sea Grant ( OSG ) Project and Event Coordinator supports the leadership team in managing the Oregon Sea Grant program and carrying out program-wide projects and events. The position coordinates leadership team, advisory council, and program-wide meetings, annual reporting, and special projects. The OSG Coordinator supports the leadership team (Director and three associate directors for Research & Scholars, Extension & Engagement, and Education) in managing a responsive and fast-paced program. The coordinator must be effective at managing, tracking, and prioritizing multiple projects, events, and workflows to successful completion. The position also provides back-up support for the OSG HR Liaison and will serve as HR Liaison in their absence. The position reports to the Director and serves as the leadership team's liaison with Oregon Sea Grant personnel and external parties including Oregon State University ( OSU ) departments, faculty, and staff; the public; organizations working in partnership with Oregon Sea Grant (governmental and non-governmental); other state Sea Grant programs; National Sea Grant Office; Oregon Sea Grant Advisory Council; and Sea Grant Association. This position involves substantial interpersonal communication to support effective coordination of projects, partners, and personnel and requires strong communication skills, multi-cultural understanding, sound judgement, and diplomacy.

Oregon Sea Grant, based at OSU since 1971, is one of 34 Sea Grant College Programs established by Congress as a partnership between universities and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( NOAA ). Through an integrated program of research, extension and education, our mission is to spark discovery, understanding, and collaboration to foster healthy, inclusive, and resilient coastal communities and ecosystems (seagrant.oregonstate.edu). Oregon Sea Grant funds research projects, manages fellowships and internships, and implements extension and education programs to address issues of importance to coastal communities and ecosystems. The program also operates the Hatfield Visitor Center, a public marine science museum/aquarium, and K-12 educational programs at the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires Bachelor's Degree and 3 years' experience providing administrative support to an administrator

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Type:

The coordinator will work primarily from our offices in Corvallis. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. An in-office presence is required for this position, but working up to one day a week from home and a flexible work schedule are options.

Occasional evening and weekend work and some in-state or regional travel related to event and program support may be required.

May require occasional out of state travel for national program meetings or work outdoors related to program delivery.

Additional Salary Information: $44,496 - $75,516
