Job description

The Department of Surgery and Organ Transplant Center at The University of Iowa are seeking a Licensed Clinical Psychologist to become an active member of a dynamic, specialized, interdisciplinary team of surgeons, physicians, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, dieticians, financial counselors, administrators and other support staff to participate in the evaluation of transplant recipients, donors and to support individuals becoming eligible for transplant.

The Organ Transplant Center provides clinical services to individuals in need of liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants, as well as potential donors. Clinical responsibilities include:

This position includes a faculty appointment at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine (non-tenure clinical track), with rank and salary commensurate with experience at a 1.0 FTE (100% clinical).

Incoming faculty will have access to mentoring opportunities and support for growth and innovation, as well as opportunities for collaboration within the Department of Surgery and with other departments. Working at the state's only tertiary academic medical center offers unique opportunities for program development and application of skills for very complex patients. Additionally, psychologists working within the University of Iowa Healthcare system have opportunity to collaborate and associate with a large group of faculty psychologists housed in the Department of Psychiatry.

The psychologist is welcome to engage in teaching at multiple levels, such as medical residents/fellows, medical students, and graduate students. Teaching opportunities include more formal didactics and clinical teaching in areas of the psychologist's expertise. Supervision of graduate school practicum students from the University of Iowa Clinical Science (Clinical Psychology) program and fellows in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry is highly encouraged.
