Research Biochemistry and Cellular Physiology Internship ORIC Pharmaceuticals, Inc, is a clinical stage oncology company dedicated to improving patients' lives and focused on developing treatments that address mechanisms of therapeutic resistance. We are excited to offer an 8-10-week paid summer internship in our South San Francisco Biochemistry and Cellular Physiology Department to a highly motivated student. You will take part in an exciting early-stage drug discovery program as a member of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with scientists in biology, computational biology, biochemistry, and chemistry. You will help investigate the mechanisms of action of small molecule inhibitors that have been discovered in-house. This position provides the opportunity to obtain hands-on biotechnology experience under close mentorship and build a foundation for your future career.
Responsibilities - Develop and perform assays to elucidate molecular mechanism of action of protein targets using small molecule inhibitors as part of an exciting, early-stage, drug discovery program
- Keep excellent records of experimental procedures and acquired data in an electronic lab notebook
- Learn relevant biology that supports target identification and small molecule mechanism of action
- Contribute to project team meeting discussions and present discoveries to the team
Qualifications - Major in biology, chemical biology, biochemistry, or a related field (we will consider PhD, masters, or undergraduate students with relevant experience)
- Previous hands-on laboratory experience in molecular and cellular biology is strongly preferred
- Previous experience with tissue culture, microscopy is a plus
- Passion for executing rigorous, reproducible science, with the potential to impact patients' lives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Conditions - 30-40 hours per week
- Laptop provided by company
- On-site lab work in our South San Francisco Office
- Must be vaccinated according to Bloodborne Pathogens Standards (BPS), as they will be working with human cell lines
