Shipper/Receiver
Pay Rate: $18.76
Shift: 3rd
SUMMARY: Perform various manual and clerical duties in the shipment of finished goods, components, and in the receiving of materials from a number of sources. Record incoming materials, check and follow up on discrepancies and move material to proper locations. Check shipments against shipping documents and instructions. Prepare and maintain specific shipping, receiving and stock records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must have the ability to communicate with peers, vendors, customers, purchasing and production control.
Must be proficient with and have a good understanding of data entry and inventory control systems and procedures.
Must be able to interpret bill of materials, proficient with part numbers and part descriptions to aid problem solving and inventory control.
Must have the ability to operate in a safe manner using material handling equipment such as a forklift.
Receive materials from various sources including vendors, the main plant, and warehouses. Check count incoming materials against appropriate records. Make entries on receiving records as required. Forward necessary paperwork to departments or individuals concerned. Move materials to inspection area with the aid of forklift. Participate in inventory periodically.
Move finished products and components by using a forklift. Prepare finished goods for shipment. Assist in maintaining records on all items placed into stock. Move finished goods to the shipping area, check count against shipping documents. Move component parts and materials to various production work centers.
Keep supervision informed of any discrepancies on incoming materials or shipments and make corrections as instructed. Answer inquiries regarding receipt of materials, shipments made or pending, and check various details for Material Control and others.
Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor outside the receiving department and adhere to company safety and housekeeping policy and work rules.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision.
Comply with all company rules, safety policies and procedures.
Ability to continually prioritize tasks to be completed as requires.
Self-starter and multi-task oriented. Able to work independently, as-well-as with others, as needed.
Work effectively to identify and resolve problems or issues.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or recognized equivalent. Excellent driving record.Ability to communicate with peers, vendors, customers, purchasing and production control. Proficient with and have a good understanding of data entry and inventory control systems and procedures with the ability to interpret bill of materials, part numbers and part descriptions to aid problem solving and inventory control. Must have the ability to operate in a safe manner the material handling equipment such as a forklift, crane, yard tractor, etc.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic mathematic skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding while carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Possess the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in various situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for the entire shift. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Lifting which exceeds 50 pounds may be with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Proper lifting techniques required.
