Job description

The successful candidate will teach a 15-credit hour course load for the fall and spring semester that encompasses Theory I-IV, Sight-Singing and Ear Training I-IV, Form and Analysis, Orchestration and Arranging, and other coursework as assigned; teach applied composition lessons; provide service to the university community; and perform other duties as assigned.  The successful candidate will be expected to maintain excellence in teaching music theory courses, and teach related coursework such as composition and music technology as needed; attend faculty and other relevant meetings; and foster diversity and inclusion among students. The initial review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.? 

A terminal degree in music theory and/or composition is preferred. A master’s degree in music theory or music theory and composition is required. Experience in teaching collegiate-level theory courses is required. Experience teaching composition is preferred.

Transcripts with a designation of “Issued to Student”, or with the student name listed as the recipient will not be considered official. Official transcripts will be required of the successful candidate prior to the start date of the appointment, but unofficial copies will be accepted for the application process.
