Job description

Function/Duties of Position:

Staff Biostatistician will collaborate with and support to health sciences investigators through the Biostatistics Design Program (BDP) and support specific larger-scale projects via FTE arrangements with individual departments/investigators. Collaboration includes: data management, programming and statistical analysis for internal and external reports, manuscripts and other publications. May get involved in statistical activities related to grant preparation (e.g. sample size, power calculations) under the supervision of faculty or senior staff. Under supervision, incumbent may collaborate directly (via FTE arrangement) on grants and other projects involving one or more of the following: clinical trials, management and analysis of large-scale administrative/ claims databases, design and analysis of complex-sampled surveys, applications of novel statistical methods to emerging (high dimensional) data sources. Incumbent may focus a portion of FTE with one or two OHSU departments and/or provide services to investigators throughout OHSU.


This position involves significant interaction with the clients, requiring effective oral and written communication skills. The incumbent is expected to learn new methods and programming techniques, as well as participate in continuing education activities to keep up with modern, cutting-edge statistical methods. The position reports directly to Dr. Jodi Lapidus, Professor of Biostatistics, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health and Director, Biostatistics and Design Program.
