Job description

Overview

The Director Laboratory Services is located at Wellstar North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia and oversees all daily functions of the laboratory including Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Microbiology (at identified facilities), Histology/Cytology, Pathology (at identified facilities), Phlebotomy, and support services. This individual is responsible for staffing, problem resolution, operational parameters, customer service, supplies, training/orientation of staff, and adherence to all regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, TJC, and OSHA).

The Director ensures that quality services are provided according to established policies and procedures. Develops, interprets and implements budgets and long-range plans. This individual is responsible for performing a wide variety of management tasks requiring strategic thinking, independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. May be responsible for off-site laboratory services that are part of a Hospital Outpatient Department (HOD).

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education

• Bachelor's Degree is required
• Master's Degree is preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) - At least one of the following: 

• Med Tech ASCP 
• Clinical Lab Tech 
• Amer Medical Tech 
• Med Technologist (AMT) 
• Med Technologist (AAB) 

Required Minimum Experience

• Minimum 10 years as a medical technologist in a variety of disciplines at acute care facilities is required.
• Minimum 7 years progressive laboratory management experience is required.

Required Minimum Skills

• The individual must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and display a positive attitude.
• Computer applications including MS office, HIS, LIS applications.
