Description:
The Product Manager will play a critical role in coordinating with business and technology stakeholders to deliver a user-centered product using agile methodologies and modern software development practices. This position will focus on building capacity for product innovation within the government sector, specifically within the Department's highest priority initiative - the implementation of a Salesforce instance to support key business functions. The Product Manager will be responsible for managing the technology implementation, coordinating between business, technical, and vendor stakeholders, and ensuring that the Salesforce instance meets business needs throughout all phases of development and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Define goals for agency operations in collaboration with DOL leadership and communicate these goals to technology vendors.
- Develop and manage the short and long-term product roadmap aligned with agency goals, including creating the product vision, lean canvas, and prioritizing epics and user stories.
- Manage overall product management milestones and artifacts, prioritize backlog, triage features, and track progress in Jira and other tracking mechanisms.
- Lead research projects to document and prioritize policy and business needs through various techniques such as analysis of operational data and user interviews.
- Ensure successful implementation by prioritizing functionality and feature development, ensuring alignment with broader technology capabilities, policies, and architectural standards.
- Set a vision for how the Salesforce instance will meet the Department's needs, keeping abreast of future Salesforce technologies and services for future enhancements.
- Define a strategy to achieve the vision for how technology will support and enable evolving business needs over time.
- Serve as the expert on DOL's software application, driving decision-making, ensuring stakeholders are aware of capabilities and limitations, and managing vendor relationships.
- Support administrative and end users in using the software effectively.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of professional experience.
- Demonstrated success in a role with similar responsibilities, preferably in IT, private sector, or public policy/government.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience managing a software product end-to-end and leading a team.
- Experience with managing applications or products in a Salesforce environment or Salesforce administration.
- Proven ability in both waterfall and agile product management and technology delivery methods.
- Ability to track deliverables and accountabilities within Jira and other tracking tools.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to surface and evaluate problems accurately and drive progress with minimal oversight.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong communication skills for technical, user experience, and project management trade-offs.
- Experience with contract management and vendor interaction in delivering large-scale products or web services.
