Job description
Operations Manager (Asset Manager)
The Operations Manager leads and manages the operations, providing overall leadership for the safe, reliable, legally compliant, environmentally sound and profitable manufacture of products at this plant according to the strategy of business management. A key accountability is the continuous improvement of the site performance for development and future growth.
Operations Manager Specific Duties
• Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and decision making, to ensure employees understand company goals and have the knowledge and resources needed to accomplish them
• Manage personnel (including performance, compensation, succession planning and discipline)
• Assure compliance with HR policies and applicable state/federal laws
Level of education & experience in general
• B.S. degree, preferably in engineering
• More than 10 years of manufacturing experience, ideally including at least one role as an area Superintendent to ensure strong understanding of the operating environment.
• Experience in a leadership role is desired to develop and demonstrate required leadership competencies.
• Experience working in a union environment preferred
Technical skills
• Operational safety – knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment, and site.
• Operations and Maintenance management – knowledge of chemical processing and maintenance requirements for chemical processing units; ability to apply this to develop and manage people, processes, procedures and systems to achieve the prescribed process safety, health, environmental, reliability and product quality standards.
• Production engineering – knowledge and associated ability to apply technical, scientific, and mathematical knowledge to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems, and processes that safely realize organizational requirements and objectives.
• Quality management – knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques used to create and support an environment that meets the needs of the organization.
• Employee health and safety – knowledge of the procedures and programs in place in the organization to ensure employee safety; ability to take appropriate action in case of an emergency.
