Job description
Our client has over 100 years of defined experience in the UK fruit sectors. The business sources fresh produce globally supplying retailers, food service, caterers and the wholesales sectors. They have an excellent reputation for quality and year round availability and sustainable pricing. These go hand in hand with exceptional high technical standard and third-party accreditation such as BRC, Assured Produce, Red Tractor, GlobalGap and Sedex accreditations.
Due to ongoing growth, they are wishing to source an Assistant Technical Manager.
Working with a number of retail customers, the Assistant Technical Manager will be confident at communicating and working with teams at all levels in customer businesses. Good communication skills, approachable way of working and a team player are key skills.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Support the Lead Technical to deliver the technical agenda across the business
- Ensuring suppliers are in the know of current standards and requirements
- Managing customer technical requirements ensuring the customer is always in the know.
- Identify opportunities for driving technical improvement with suppliers and internally.
- Key member of the team conducting internal auditing and site wide compliance, reporting finding and solving non-conformance to ensure future compliance.
- Manage Ethical compliance for suppliers and the site.
- Developing and maintaining the sites QMS systems along with the team.
- A member of the team hosting customer and 3rd party audits.
- Driving best practice in all areas of the business.
- Daily management of the Quality Control team in our high care production facility
- As a member of the technical team you will ensure food safety and compliance in all technical areas.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Excellent communicator and well organised.
- Technical experience in fresh produce or food manufacturing.
- Comfortable talking to suppliers and customers.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels.
- A real team player and great at finding the solution.
- Understanding of the pressures of fresh produce and production.
- Experience in managing Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.
- Experience of BRC Food Safety Standard, retail customer standards and managing 3rd party audits, supplier audit requirements.
- Good computer knowledge especially MS Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
- Happy to be hands on.
- HACCP qualification desired.
- Internal auditor trained desired.
