Technical Language Support Specialist

JTG is currently seeking a Technical Language Support Specialist for an immediate full-time position

The Technical Language Support Specialist will work with linguistic experts to format language reference and teaching materials for print and electronic delivery. Sample duties include the creation, maintenance, sorting and indexing of complex databases, customizing equipment to handle languages with different scripts, and converting data files to and from different software and operating systems. Strong candidates will offer additional technical expertise in audio production or general network administration to share duties with other members of the technical support team.

Location: Hyattsville, MD

Basic requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field or five years of experience in technical support of processing of less commonly taught languages
• Proficiency in UNICODE and LMF encoding
• Strong command of written and spoken English, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-experts
• Interest in human languages and linguistics

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with audio recording equipment, software, and standards
• Advanced knowledge other than language
