The WIC Training Liaison provides training to WIC Staff, including, but not limited to Clinic Clerks and Senior Clinic Clerks as assigned by the Supervisor and acts as a liaison between WIC Administration and the WIC clinic sites. The Training Liaison conducts evaluations, documents trainings, and utilizes Individual Performance Audits. And provides clerical and clinical support to WIC Program operations and provides service to clients in the areas off reception, intake of data, outreach and nutrition education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively participates in: Staff Development and Training at Administration and WIC sites, Clinic Clerk and Senor Clerk Meetings/Trainings, New Full-Time and Contract Employee Orientations.
Provides on-the-job training or evaluation of new hires at WIC sites. Conducts and documents the training of new clerical level staff through structured training and unstructured on-the-job training by utilizing Individual Performance Audits
Conducts and participates in the in-service training to all WIC staff regarding procedure changes and updates
Supports all clerical level staff regarding policies and procedures related to clerical tasks and follows up with staff that require additional training
Supports Staff Development Training Coordinators and the Trainer/Nutrition Education Assistant in trainings and serves as liaison between them and clerical staff at WIC sites
Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-services and participates in in-house committees as assigned and consistently seeks ways to improve client services and Program quality.
Provides client services as needed by scheduling appointments, evaluating program eligibility, obtaining/ plotting clients weights and heights, completing hematocrit assessments according to guidelines while maintaining quality assurance standards for calibration of equipment and infection control precautions
Enters data into the TXIN database for client certification records and nutrition education documentation and issues Texas WIC cards and electronic benefits while maintaining fiscal inventory of Texas WIC cards and returned formula with the completion of timely reports

Education:
High school Diploma or equivalent is required
Experience:
Five (5) years of work experience as a Senior Clinic Clerk in Harris County Public Health (HCPH) WIC Program is required.
At least three (3) years of experience with the Texas WIN/TXIN Computer system is required
Successful completion of WIC project 48 Nutrition Modules is required.
Licensure:
Valid Texas Driver’s License

Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)

Associate degree preferred
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:
Full-Time
Monday – Friday | 8 am – 5:30 pm
One (1) Saturday per month
Must be willing to flex hours when required, including weekends.
Able to travel within Harris County as needed.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional clinic environment that is highly oriented on teamwork and excellent customer service.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
Position requires a high level of movement throughout the facility
Ability to communicate information and accurately exchange information
Ability to enter accurate information into the computer system
Employee must be able to lift supplies 5 lbs. or greater
Working conditions involve possible exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens and bodily fluids
