Full job description
Become a member the 131st Civil Engineer Squadron (Missouri Air National Guard) as a Civilian Employee of the State of Missouri. Maintain a beautiful facility campus in the Jefferson Barracks National Historic District and support an exemplary military unit fulfilling State and Federal military missions.
Job Location: Jefferson Barracks Air National Guard Station, 29 Sherman Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63125.
- Perform landscaping and grass mowing duties to maintain lawn/grass area or cover.
- Provide and manage ground maintenance requirements for supplies, tools, and parts.
- Maintain, inspect, repair, and operate a variety of outdoor grounds equipment.
- Maintain and repair sidewalk, curb, driveway, storage area, and parking lot surfaces. May also inspect and repair ditches, drains, and culverts.
- Perform, document, and apply chemical treatments for plant and pest control.
- Perform snow or ice removal, as needed.
- Will work directly with grounds maintenance supervisor, state superintendent, production control, and the facility manager.
Minimum Technical Qualifications
- Must be able to operate a desktop computer system and can use various, common software programs.
- Knowledge and ability to safely operate powered groundskeeping equipment.
- Ability to use manual equipment and hand tools.
- Willingness to learn skills and to complete certifications needed to perform all the duties listed above.
Minimum Physical Qualifications
- Ability to work with heavy supplies, occasionally over 25 pounds.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions in all seasons, to include hot and cold temperatures.
- Must be able to work and remain on feet for long stretches of time.
Minimum Miscellaneous Qualifications
- Must be able to pass an installation-approved background and security check.
- Possess the abilities to follow directions, get along with coworkers and supervisors, and to treat coworkers, supervisors, and customers with respect and courtesy.
