We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our internal Finance team. As a Staff Accountant, you will assist our Finance Manager to complete the month end close process and other general accounting activities, such as journal entries, financial analysis, and variance explanations. Additionally you will:
- Assist in the detailed monthly review and approval of employee expense reports.
- Prepare reconciliations and analyses of accounts monthly.
- Prepare and remit monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns.
- Track and provide accounting for company stock transactions and related equity accounting entries.
- Assist in gathering of year end information and requests by the outside tax firm and audit firm in preparation for the annual filings and review.
- Assist with requests for financial information from internal departments, creditors, lending institutions and other outside parties as required.
- Develop a solid understanding of the Cargas business, including the overall markets being served, products/services sold, and revenue recognition practices.
- Collaborate and work with the Finance team on the planning and execution of process improvement initiatives and special projects as called upon.
- Support the accounting operations team (billing/collections/AP) as called upon.

Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a public firm or corporate accounting role.
Professional / Technical Knowledge Requirements
- Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Understanding of an effective and efficient internal control environment.
- Very detail-oriented.
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong drive, dedication and work ethic.
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High degree of proficiency working with technology and accounting/business software.
- High level of integrity.
- Read, write, understand and speak English fluently.
- Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software, a plus.
