Job Summary
As a Flow Chemistry Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and implementing continuous flow chemistry processes to meet business needs and timelines utilizing knowledge of engineering fundamentals. Your role involves leveraging your expertise in chemical engineering and flow chemistry principles to develop efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities: - Process Design and Optimization : Design, optimize, and scale-up continuous flow chemical processes to meet production goals while ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality standards.
- Equipment Selection and Operation : Select appropriate reactors, pumps, mixers, and other suitable equipment for specific reactions, and oversee their operation and maintenance.
- Reaction Kinetics and Thermodynamics : Apply principles of reaction kinetics and thermodynamics to understand and improve chemical reactions occurring in flow systems.
- Scale-up/Scale-down : Develop the theoretical, experimental, and computational understanding associated with reaction engineering and various unit operations to accurately scale-up/scale-down to solve lab and kilo scale problems
- Safety and Compliance : Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards in all aspects of chemistry operations. Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures.
- Data Analysis and Troubleshooting : Analyze process data, identify trends, and troubleshoot issues to optimize performance and maximize yield and productivity.
- Collaboration : Collaborate with cross-functional teams including chemists, chemical engineers, and researchers to develop innovative solutions and address technical challenges.
- Technology Development : Stay updated with the latest advancements in flow chemistry technology and contribute to the development of novel methodologies and techniques.
- Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and procedures. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation as required.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with 1-3 year of relevant industrial experiences, or Master of Science in Chemical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant industrial experiences
- Strong background in chemical engineering principles with a focus on flow chemistry
- Experience in continuous flow synthesis with heterogenous catalysis and multiphase reactors systems, and / or CSTRs will be preferred
- Experience with process design, optimization, and scale-up in an industrial or academic setting
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using software tools such as MATLAB, Python, or equivalent
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to chemical manufacturing processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with computational modeling and simulation of flow systems
- Familiarity with automation and control systems for continuous flow reactors
- Previous experience in pharmaceutical, fine chemicals, or related industries
