Job description
Currently hiring a full time speech language pathologist to work with students in person near Arlington Heights, IL.
Position Description: The speech-language pathologist supports the development of students' speech and language skills within the school setting.
- Provides direct and consultative speech therapy to students including assessment, developing goals, individualized education plans (IEP), program planning and implementation, documentation, and communication with students, families, and other staff members.
- Provides a therapeutic program to meet students' individual speech and language needs.
- Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing and referring students when there are suspected or identified speech and/or language impairments.
- Conducts comprehensive evaluations of students' including speech, voice, language, and fluency for evaluation and IEP meetings and makes recommendations.
- Completes written reports for IEP meetings.
- Works collaboratively to provide comprehensive speech therapy services to students.
- Serves as a member of a student's IEP team.
- Knowledge and skills in various methods of assessment to support eligibility decision-making, intervention plan development, and progress monitoring of students' skills and functional abilities.
- Knowledge and skills in various methods of data collection to support program review and goal setting.
- Consultation and collaboration skills to be a supportive resource on a variety of topics including strategies, interventions and supports that can be provided to students within and outside of the classroom setting to develop students' communication skills.
- Communication with students, parents, teachers, other personnel, and outside agencies for the purpose of evaluation and plan development.
- Experience providing individual, small group, and classroom interventions.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and child development.
- Maintains thorough records for students on caseload.
