We are currently looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Technogym USA in New Jersey. His/her mission is to be in charge of drafting simple legal documents, negotiating, structuring, interpreting, executing, and/or administering contractual documents. You will get the opportunity to work in a high-profile environment and join an international and dynamic team used to working under pressure and collaborating to reach key deadlines and goals.
This role requires an individual with personal confidence, legal acumen and business savvy to operate in a highly regulated industry as you also provide significant input in the development and implementation of legal compliance policies and procedures. You additionally develop appropriate relationships for the legal department with other departments across the business as well as externally with local authorities. You will be responsible for counseling the business, by giving proactive, professional, competent, (cost) effective, and creative legal support. You'll need to bring negotiation and drafting skills and business sense to deal with multiple functional teams in a rapidly scaling business. You will collaborate with business leaders as well as with supporting areas advising on legal risks, business strategies, and other issues related to the Company’s businesses. You will be required to work independently as well as part of various teams and take on projects in addition to the daily day job.
Your Impact
Your main responsibilities will cover a variety of legal issues concerning our industry and business across the Technogym Group. Amongst others, the following responsibilities apply to this position:
- Draft, review, and negotiate simple and complex contractual documents, mainly related to projects performed by the Company in the different geographies
- Advise on general business law issues and manage the legal issues of all areas of the company, including but not limited to corporate matters, operations, digital, sales & marketing, procurement, safety, security, litigations, and sustainability issues
- Attend meetings with clients, suppliers, and/or project team
- Fulfill any corporate obligations, including dealing with public notaries or local authorities and obtaining certificates or other corporate documents
- Draft letters related to contractual obligations and/or pre-litigations and/or claims
- Advise on claims and ensure a proper connection with external lawyers in charge of litigations, ensuring that externally commissioned lawyers are provided with all necessary information to enable them to provide advice that is accurate, targeted, and which represents the best value for money
- Cooperate in developing procedures, matrices, and policies to be adopted at the Technogym Group level
- Work on developing Technogym templates and standards and maintain a deep understanding of the Technogym Group policies and procedures
- Assist business teams on specific legal issues (like IP, competition, or IT laws)
- Provide high-quality, targeted, and accessible legal advice across a range of practice areas and will work as a valued business partner with colleagues across Technogym Group in order to secure and deliver effective solutions to legal issues
- Drive continuous improvement within his/her own areas of responsibility
- Take a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring legal risks and issues are identified, addressed, and reported and, where appropriate, escalated
- Anticipate and manage the (legal) risks connected with or resulting from the business strategy and operations
- Secure compliance of business operations with relevant laws and regulations
- Ability to deliver high-quality work under deadlines About You
- Law degree from a University with a good ranking
- A J.D. in Law from an accredited law school is preferable
- Member in good standing in the New York Bar
- 5-7 years in corporate and contract law (in law firms or in-house, preferably both)
- Strong legal experience in corporate and commercial matters
- Experience in managing external legal counsel
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English (knowledge of Italian is a plus)
- Pragmatic approach to problem-solving and good relational skills
- Self-motivated, independent professional with excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive under pressure
- Proactive self-starter, highly motivated, focused on working at a high level and producing an excellent work product under changing priorities and deadlines
- Proven track record of being highly effective in unstructured business environments remote from corporate support
- Process-oriented with strong organization skills to manage multiple projects in parallel and prioritize competing demands
