As a Nurse Practitioner within the West Central Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Job Responsibilities You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Serve as a floater throughout West Central Health District's 16-county health departments to perform advanced nursing functions in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures within all Public Health Programs, with a focus on Women's Health, STD assessments and treatment, and PrEP initiation and follow up
- Assess the client's condition, performs, and interprets laboratory tests, prescribes appropriate treatments/therapies, and provides patient education
- Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, and minor invasive procedures as medically required/recommended
- Perform insertions and removals of various LARC devices
- Travel will be required throughout the West Central Health District
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate or Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND certification in the specialty area(s) approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia license as an APRN AND CPR certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Public Health experience, prior knowledge and/or experience with Women's Health.
Additional Information All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
