Located just outside of town is the Minot Air Force Base which makes our economy more robust than other cities of its size due to its large service area. It you like ice fishing, hockey, camping, hiking, four wheeling, gorgeous sunsets, and a million other things, we’ve got you covered in a big way. Oh, and If you are a car racing fan, we offer the Nodak Speedway, a 3/8-mile dirt track located on the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. Hobby Stocks, INEX Legends, IMCA Stocks & IMCA Modifieds race most Sunday nights all summer long. We also have the Magic City International Dragway, where drag racing runs from May through September. Nearly 40% of the city's residents are of Scandinavian ancestry, and every October since 1977, Minot has been the host to the Norsk Høstfest, North America's largest Scandinavian-American festival. Recent entertainment included Dirks Bentley, Big and Rich, Clint Black, Daughtry and Brothers Osborne.
