The Monitor Technician is responsible for the on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors/remote telemetry and provides RN's and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms.
REQUIRED:
1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Most possess the knowledge of cardiac anatomy/physiology and the ability to interpret, measure, and document cardiac rhythms.
3. Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia Course or have 1 year experience working as a monitor tech AND successfully complete a competency exam on identification of arrhythmias with a score of 85% or greater.
4. Must possess and maintain current knowledge of pacemakers, ICD's, and related issues as identified; must complete an annual competency exam and correctly identify all lethal arrhythmias and receive overall score of 85% or greater.
5. CRAT (Continuous Rhythm Analysis Technician) Certification through CCI upon hire or within 6 months of employment
6. BLS Certification prior to completion of orientation
