POSITION SUMMARY: New York Film Academy's - Los Angeles Campus seeks a passionate and driven Director of Human Resources to join the HR team. As a leader of the Human Resources team, the Director of HR is responsible for leading and planning the day-to-day operations of all Human Resources functions. Superior multitasking and attention to detail skills are a must. Professional judgment and confidentiality is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary.
- Oversee HR activities for the Los Angeles Campus.
- Partner with academic and non-academic leaders to develop and lead an effective people strategy for designated teams.
- Provide strategic partnership to supervisors: provide coaching, focus on performance management, leadership development, and conflict management.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
- Partner with the HR Lead - New York Campus and members of the HR team on communications, projects and best practices.
- Provide expertise in the development and execution, planning, and facilitation of employee relations efforts.
- Culture + DEI : Ensure we are always keeping DEI top of mind and embedding best practices in our day-to-day.
- Own and innovate on our team rituals and events (monthly staff meetings, Halloween, holiday party etc.)
- Maintain strong culture, connection, and communication across our distributed team.
- Build and maintain inclusive internal policies to reflect our team.
- Enable employees to actively participate in ERGs.
- Manage the talent acquisition process, which may include, recruitment, interviewing, and hiring full for all NYFA Campuses.
- Employee Relations: Investigate, recommend action and resolve employee concerns and issues. Facilitate effective communication with supervisors and employees on company policies, initiatives and performance evaluations.
- Effectively plan and manage employee leaves of absence, short-term disability, accommodation requests.
- Payroll and Benefits: Provide employees assistance with timekeeping andbenefitsenrollment. Partner with payroll to accurately plan, process and forecast.
- Safety and Training: Oversee workers compensation cases, maintain OSHA standards, train and guide employees as needed.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to HR matters.
- Serve on the committees as needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION: - Minimum 7 years of professional HR experience with strong emphasis on employee relations, benefits, HRIS, and payroll.
- Experience leading internal DEI initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or similar discipline is a must.
- PHR/SHRM CP certified preferred.
- Experience in Higher Education or Entertainment industry preferred.
- Experience working with Paycom preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES: - Knowledge of CA Labor Laws.
- Extensive employee relations experience.
- Experience working in a fast-pacedand ambiguous environment.
- Knowledge of overall HR functions.
- Quick Learner, detailoriented, thorough and accurate.
- Great planning and organizing skills, ability to multitask.
- Follows instructions, responds to management direction and maintainsa highlevel of confidentiality.
- Self-starter with a creative mind and a track record of putting ideas into practice and assessing results.

ENVIRONMENTAL / ATMOSPHERIC WORKING CONDITIONS: The following environmental / atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary.
- Office environment.
- Sit for long periods of time to perform various computer/administrative tasks.
- Reasonable dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and/or manipulate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling, and manual dexterity.
- Verbally and effectively communicate utilizing face-to-face contact and telephones.
- Lift, carry, push and/or pull documents/boxes weighing up to 10-20 lbs.
- Variable work schedule - to be determined. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
- Minimal travel as needed.
