Job Description and Duties

Under direction of the Staff Services Manager I of the Data Information & Support Unit of the  Child Care and Development Division (CCDD) and working cooperatively with program units  and supervisors throughout the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) provides analytical services.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

Special Requirements

The SOQ should be typed with a 1 inch margin, size 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and no more  than two pages in length. Place Name, Job Control, and Date at the top of each page.


1. Describe how your education, experience, and background have prepared you to successfully perform the specific job duties  for this position. Please include your experience working with and utilizing a variety of computer applications.

2. Share how well versed you are in Microsoft Excel.

3. Describe your communication skills, both written and oral, and your experience presenting before a wide range of audiences  including management/executive staff.

4. Describe your experience researching and analyzing data to make a recommendation. Include the steps that you took in order  to make recommendations, your role in working with other partners and interest holders, and what were your end results.

If you are meeting minimum qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts for verification. If selected, you may be required to provide office transcripts at the time of hire.

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development assignments are temporary in nature and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.

Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
