Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.
Summary:
Under general supervision, identifies processing problems within the framework of available guidelines, plans and executes a schedule of the specific work to be processed and independently changes that schedule to accept new work requirements.
Responsibilities:
Data Manager:
- Prepares data for complex analysis and possess the ability to perform preliminary analysis of data.
- Prepares complex and technical presentations for national research meeting and manuscripts for peer review journals to include editorial responsibilities.
- Conducts patient education and administer informed consents.
- Performs cross checking of double entered files and resolves discrepancies.
Computer duties:
- Performs contact tracing of high risk individuals in the community
- Performs back ups of completed data entry at various times during scheduled work shift, and at the end of shift before leaving.
- Double entry data input and maintains data integrity procedures.
- Data transfer from RPMS to the research data management system.
- L ooks up people in central demographics, PCIS, and RPMS data bases
- Develops computer data entry programs
Clerical duties:
- Codes forms for computer entry.
- Sorts, processes and files lab slips and other forms.
- Maintaining research case report forms according to current FDA regulations.
- Prepares data for presentation and manuscripts
Clinical duties:
- Completes required health and safety training.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Other information:
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
- Knowledge and experience with numerous computer software program Viking, MS power point, access, excel, word, SAS, Coreal, Harvard Graphics
- Knowledge of public health principles and adult education
- Knowledge on research grants preparation to include writing, editing and document research
- Knowledge of scientific research principles and regulations for the protection of human subjects
- Knowledge of complex computer operations is required to perform data input and manipulation in software programs used to manage database where information is being stored. Incumbent will report any difficulties with the computer system to the Computer Specialist if any disturbances with in the computer system occur
- Knowledge of American Indian/Alaska Native health care systems; specific experience with the Alaska Native health care system is desirable
- Knowledge of research concepts and techniques, survey design, data collection procedures, and database management
- Skill in researching, reading, interpreting and writing technical documentation
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers and representatives from other local, state and Federal agencies
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications
- Skill in written and oral communication skills
- Skill in communicating with scientists, medical personnel, federal, state, and Tribal health administrators, and the general public
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s Degree in health, biological, or social sciences AND four (4) years of experience in health care.
