Job description

A Pump Technician will be tasked with operating in remote environments running a pump hoist truck with the purpose of developing newly installed groundwater monitoring wells, injection wells, and water supply wells. Additionally, the Pump Technician may be tasked with removing pumps, installing pumps, and troubleshooting pump problems in the field to recommend repairs. The Pump Technician may be tasked with collecting water samples and producing paperwork associated with sample collection. The work is generally physically demanding. This position requires travel and the ability to work independently or with a small crew of two or three.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Drives trucks to various job sites as directed by supervisor.

· Loads appropriate sampling and well installation equipment and supplies onto trucks as directed by supervisor.

· Performs preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors and prepares documentation.

· Performs miscellaneous maintenance duties in field or shop as directed by supervisors.

· Mechanical ability to perform equipment repairs.

· Conduct pre-trip inspection.

· Perform physical labor, shoveling drilling debris, and transporting materials using ergonomically correct lifting techniques.

· Maintain a clean and presentable jobsite.

· Assists with the collection of labeling and storing of samples.

· Ensure proper clearance from energy sources.

· Ensure stability and location of drilling equipment onsite.

· Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.

· Single phase and three phase pump removal and installation (TX Pump Installer Preferred)

· Knowledge of groundwater well development techniques

· Knowledge of plumbing and piping systems

· Knowledge of electrical systems

· Electrical and plumbing systems troubleshooting.

· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

· Prior experience operating equipment.

· Active CDL drivers license or ability to obtain preferred, but not required

· Motor vehicle driving record that is consistent with Company and insurance carrier standards and policies.

· Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

· Able to travel to job sites during all phases of a project and able to travel to jobsites which may be remote.

· Must be able to wear required PPE.

· Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, and climb ladders for extended periods of time.

· Able to perform heavy lifting; minimum 50 pounds.

· Forklift certification.

 

WORK CONDITIONS:

· Typically work during regular business hours, though will be expected to be on call at all hours that the Company is operating in the event of safety emergency.

· Ability to work outside year-round in all types of weather conditions.

· Available to work extended hours as required by project schedules, weather conditions or urgent circumstances.

· Ability to travel as required for position.

 

MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS:

Depending on an individual’s job duties, the Company may require an individual to complete a medical examination. Persons, whom the Company wishes to hire, will receive a conditional offer of employment contingent on the successful completion of background checks, drug/alcohol test, medical examination and positive report of their fitness to perform the duties required for this position.

CDL REGULATIONS:

To be considered for employment as a CDL driver for Talon/LPE, Ltd. (Talon), and to comply with the terms of fulfilling a “Safety Sensitive” position under FMCSA and PHMSA, each potential driver must meet all the requirements as indicated in the DOT FMCSA regulations to include, but not limited to:

 

1. Registering on the FMCSA Clearinghouse

2. Consenting to Talon conducting a query in the FMCSA Clearinghouse

3. Obtaining a clear Drug & Alcohol report from the Clearinghouse

4. Completing Driver Application as is required in the FMCSA

5. Providing information on employers for the previous three years prior to employment in order to complete DOT mandated “Inquiry to Previous Employers: Safety Performance History Records” and having no record of safety, drug, or alcohol infractions

6. Providing a current CDL license with verification

7. Having a current and valid Medical Examiners Certificate attached to their CDL
