Job description

Under direct supervision, the Gardener performs semi-skilled tasks responsible for the care, maintenance, and repair the campus gardens and grounds, including the trees, lawns, meadows, wooded areas, fields, planters and hardscapes and outdoor furnishings. This position is responsible for operating electrically powered and gasoline-powered landscaping equipment and the use of small hand and power tools, or equipment, in planting, cultivating, and trimming and other aspects of landscaping. The individual must have the ability to read, write/type and perform basic mathematical calculations using a calculator and a computer. The individual must possess the necessary initiative and dependability to work alone or in groups and communicate in a thoughtful way.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience, and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education of experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Salary and Benefits 

$33,500 annually and full University benefits that includes annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
