Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Medical Information Officer and dotted line reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Clinical Informatics provides enterprise-wide informatics leadership to effectively champion the strategy, adoption, and optimization of information technology and promote and advance transformative innovations from an informatics perspective. The Director of Clinical Informatics is a visionary leader who combines knowledge of patient care, informatics, and change management to enhance the design and optimization of the electronic health record (EHR) to achieve maximal patient safety, quality of care, and operational efficiency. The Director of Clinical Informatics is a relationship-based leader who pulls people together to form a unified voice and strategy, whenever possible. The Director leads the Informatics team in the achievement of these goals, as well as promotes their continued learning and advancement in informatics. In addition, the incumbent oversees the Informatics Training team and the Engagement & Adoption programs. The Director of Clinical Informatics will collaborate with IS team to ensure Informatics strategies are in alignment with goals and priorities. The director of Clinical Informatics will represent UCI Health nationally as a leader in health informatics and will participate on national committees and organizations focusing on health IT. Additional responsibilities include the clinical quality, safety, and operational integrity of clinical information systems; and integrating quality improvement and regulatory standards to maximize the capability of the clinical data warehouse for quality, research, and evidence-based practice activities.

Salary Range: Annual Rate Minimum $111,200.00
Midpoint $163,100.00
Maximum $215,000.00
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of the campus community, external agencies, universities, and industry
- Strong communication skills to communicate using a variety of methods with all levels of staff and with external agencies
- Current CA RN license
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience implementing and supporting EMR in ambulatory / clinical setting
- Minimum 7 years of nursing information technology leadership experience; must be knowledgeable and up-to-date with trends in the use of clinical systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical information systems
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of clinical informatics systems, concepts, policies, practices, and methodologies, including programming design, modification, deployment, data security, and quality assurance
- Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and delegate clinical informatics work functions efficiently, with strong human resources management skills and knowledge
- Demonstrated leadership skills managing IT professionals and collaborating with clinicians. Proven managerial, skills in planning and delegating work, deploying staff, resource management, budgeting, and financial management
- Proven ability to work effectively with senior management on operational and performance issues in developing goals, policies, plans, strategies, quality improvement programs, and systems for ensuring user competence in clinical informatics
- 5+ years of leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of clinical operations
- Ability to coordinate and motivate staff
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, maintain schedules and timelines
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Ability to recommend original and creative solutions to situations occurring outside administrative policy.
Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of UC policies and procedures
- Experience working for an academic medical center.
