DESCRIPTION

The Staff Accountant I reports to the Chief Financial Officer and Controller and will be responsible for processing Accounts Payable and Sober Living Environment accounting processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Accounting or Business preferred. One to three years’ work experience in accounting general processes or an approved combination of education and relevant work experience.

Principle Responsibilities: The following responsibilities represent the essential functions of the position. An employee in this classification is responsible for carrying out the following functions:

• Process payments to vendors in a timely manner. Coordinate with CEO and CFO for check signatures.

• Verify and analyze grant and government funding allocations, administrative allocations and staff allocations as need for check requests.

• Communicate with program directors and managers on proper procedures for check request completion and submission, AP processing, and any AP issues.

• Analyze and research large variances in amounts billed to the organization from vendors.

• Periodically request and review vendor statements to ensure no missing invoices.

• Maintain vendor files and other filing as needed.

• Maintain Sober Living Environment payments, processing, reconciliation, and staff program adherence to proper procedures.

• Run reports, compile information, and assist with accounting activities as needed.

• Complete tasks as may be additionally assigned from time-to-time.

• Assist with month end close and annual audit as requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficient in MS Word and Excel

• Ability to work with MIP-Abila software

• Ability to work with ADM State Database

• Ability to analyze data and produce reports.

• Ability to organize time, set priorities and complete assignments.

Physical and Environmental Conditions: An enclosed office environment. Time spent sitting, using a computer station, periods of intense concentration, using the telephone, computer and performing paperwork. Time spent in meetings, travel to various work site locations throughout the county, as needed. Some exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

NOTE: Employees will be required to be fingerprinted, screened for tuberculosis, and trained in CPR & First Aid.
