Job description
To administer all aspects of the Food & Nutrition Services program here in the New Haven Unified School District. This includes National School Lunch Program, Campus Food Services, Summer School Lunches, Co-curricular Snack Bar operations, Student Union, and catering events.
Directly Responsible to the Director of Food & Nutrition Services.
Supervises and evaluates food service employees in accordance with district evaluation procedures
Is responsible for staffing and scheduling of employees
Maintains a good working relationship with school administrative staff
Provides training to food service employees regarding proper food preparation, service and storage in accordance with established standards and procedures
Plans all menus for NHUSD schools, including special events and catering functions
Maintains the food service operation in accordance with the National School Lunch Program
Works on special projects as assigned by the Director of Food & Nutrition Services
Supervises the cash processing system for the Food Services Department
Works closely with student groups to ensure that the food service program meets the needs of the students
Serves as Acting Director of Food & Nutrition Services in the absence of the Director of Food & Nutrition Services
Assists the Director in the fiscal management of the food services operation
Coordinates student store food service needs as necessary
Performs other duties as assigned
Plan and coordinate the work involved in managing Food & Nutrition Services
Understand requirements of maintaining District buildings in a safe, clean and orderly condition
Prepare and interpret plans and specifications
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Use appropriate safety precautions and procedures
Use proper lifting techniques
Observe, report, and assign need for maintenance and repair
Produce oral and written reports
Ability to produce and use data bases and spreadsheets
Ability to use work order and project management computer systems

Communicate effectively with others
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Speak, read and write English at a level required for satisfactory job performance

Perform duties as assigned
Required Food Safety certificate approved by the County Department of Health
B.S. degree in food service management, dietetics, nutrition or related field desirable
Significant food service management experience desirable
Must have a valid California driver’s license
Must be registered dietitian
Indoor and outdoor environment
May be required to drive as needed
