The Position

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.

The Cannabis Compliance Board is seeking an IT PROFESSIONAL III to create and maintain reports, application interfaces, application enhancements, workflows, SQL/TSQL scripts, website presence, business requirements and documentation, and end user instructions/documentation where needed. Identifying deficiencies and suggest solutions to identified product problems, collaborate with the Product Development, Application Testing teams and Key Stake Holders to ensure quality of product and meeting of product deadlines. The existing environment consists of Cloud vendors and internal applications where reports/interfaces may need to use data aggregated from multiple data sources. Experience with JavaScript, SSRS Reports, SQL/TSQL, PowerBI, CSS, HTML, .NET and C# will be helpful. (Any familiarity with Accela, metrc, and/or WordPress would also be of value). This position will be located in Las Vegas or Carson City and some travel between the locations may be required. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)



Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Additional Informational Notes for Information Security positions: International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc (ISC2) - Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) is equivalent to three years of experience. Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) - Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) is equivalent to two years of experience. Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) - Security Expert is equivalent to two years of experience. Other nationally recognized information security certifications may be substituted for up to one year of experience. Nevada Information Security Professional (NISP) or CISSP certification must be obtained within 12 months of appointment and maintained as a condition of continued employment.
