The Overlake School champions students and their vast potential through engaging educational experiences in a diverse and inclusive community.  Students are valued as multifaceted individuals and graduate with a passion for learning, ready for any path that contributes to a better world.

Overlake is committed to diversity and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national or ethnic origin, socio-economic status, gender, sexual orientation, or disability in the administration of its educational policies, financial aid, employment, and other school-administered programs.

Interested candidates are invited to apply online: Look for the “Current Openings” section and follow the instructions. Candidates must be able to pass a Washington State background check.

Description : The Overlake School seeks an upper school math teacher. The ideal candidate is an outstanding mathematics educator who will work to ensure student success. The teacher should contribute enthusiastically to our school community as well as the Mathematics and Computer Science department. The ideal candidate will be comfortable fostering supportive student-teacher-family relationships, creating engaging lessons and assessments, and collaborating with colleagues. The Overlake School, as part of its strategic vision, expects a high-level of cultural competency from all faculty including the awareness of one's own identities and how they play a role in the classroom as well as a demonstrated willingness to work towards a more equitable and just world. We seek educators who can center equity and justice in their instruction.

Course assignments will be based on our ideal candidate’s strengths, but we welcome teachers with experience and a willingness to teach IB MYP Math, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, or Computer Science. Our department values collaborative, student-centered classrooms, and the importance for students to get a strong foundational understanding of high-school level math rather than hyper-accelerating towards college-level math. We value understanding over speed and rote algorithms. For more information on our department’s scope and sequence, please see our curriculum guide. ()

Teaching Responsibilities and Duties : Teach four sections of Upper School math, lead an advisory (homeroom), sponsor an Upper School club, and lead students on a one-week Project Week offering in the spring. Teachers are also required to attend department meetings, division, and all-school faculty meetings.  Additional responsibilities are distributed fairly and include chaperoning dances, serving on committees, representing the school for Admissions events, and some may require occasional evening, weekend or overnight responsibilities.
