The Public Relations Specialist's key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
- Serve the people of Missouri by professionally operating the State Information phone line.
- Manage email inquiries received through the Communications Office and State Information mailboxes.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of department events.
- Develop, refine, and oversee written content that promotes department initiatives internally and externally.
- Research, edit, develop, and distribute bulletin messaging (email) utilizing GovDelivery email management system.
- Manage content on the department's public and internal websites by creating and editing pages using WordPress and Drupal content management systems.
- Edit, research, and manage digital content for department message boards to develop timely, clear, and effective messaging.
- Create and post timely and engaging content across social media platforms (e.g., X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) while analyzing performance data to inform content strategy.
- Provide creative assistance for graphic design projects by collaborating with designers to develop visually appealing graphics, layouts, and visual content.
- Provide support for photography and videography projects by assisting with tasks such as setting up equipment, operating cameras, adjusting lighting, and organizing media files.
- Perform other work tasks and duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
- Creative problem solving.
- Experience managing social media pages.
- Aptitude for writing and editing a variety of materials.
- Experience with Word Press and or Drupal for website management preferable.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suites desirable but not required.
- Basic knowledge of AP style writing.
