Job description

The UT Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, Division of Psychology, is seeking an outstanding Clinical Psychologist, with specialized education, training, and experience in health/rehabilitation, to provide psychological services at Parkland Health and Hospital Systems. This psychologist will serve as a core member of the interdisciplinary treatment teams on the outpatient and inpatient Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) service. In the PM&R Department, patient populations include traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, other acquired or chronic neurological conditions, as well as musculoskeletal injuries/physical trauma and burns.

The primary clinical responsibilities include, but are not limited to individual/group psychotherapy, psychodiagnostic and neurobehavioral status exams, cognitive screenings, and therapeutic services including behavioral and environmental interventions such as motivational interviewing and cognitive‐behavioral management techniques, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize treatment goals, discharge planning, and continuity of care for rehabilitation patients appropriate for outpatient services. Opportunities exist to provide education and supervision of clinical psychology trainees as well as involvement for research. The candidate may also serve on committees and participate in the Division of Psychology and the overall UT Southwestern academic mission. Preference will be given to candidates with specialized education, training, and experience in rehabilitation or health psychology and who are board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Candidates must hold an APA-accredited Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology, have completed an APA-accredited internship, and be licensed or license-eligible in Texas. Bilingual, Spanish‐speaking candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. Appointment rank will be commensurate with accomplishments and experience.

The Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is an APA‐accredited training program that includes an affiliated predoctoral internship in clinical psychology.
