Natural Encounters, Inc., has immediate Seasonal Trainer openings for motivated individuals who want to grow their skills with a world renown animal training and educational facility in Orlando, Florida.
Seasonal Trainer Job Description:
A Seasonal Trainer is a temporary position as an interim replacement to supplement the workforce. This position is of a limited duration. The seasonal employee may not work more than 39.5 hours per week and cannot exceed more than 120 days per year. They support, uphold, and promote the goals, purpose and growth of Natural Encounters, Inc. and its affiliates. A seasonal trainer must have a strong team work ethic, and a positive attitude in the work environment at all times and is responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of animals in Natural Encounters, Inc. collection.
Job Duties include:
Ensuring that animal welfare is of highest priority
Daily scheduled husbandry-cleaning, scrubbing/disinfecting enclosures
Implementing approved enrichment
Notifying Senior Staff of any inconsistencies in the health or behavior of the animals
Assisting in diet prep
May be asked to observe or assist in the training of husbandry and/or show behaviors
Learning assigned sections in show presentations
Participating in show presentations
Providing show support as needed
Participating in show presentations which may include wearing a show costume
Ability to learn and perform several show sections
Prepare animals for shows on pre-approved sections
AM weighing and crating for husbandry
Participating in show presentation which may include wearing a show costume
Show crating and moving of animals throughout the day
Abide by the training practices of NEI
Qualifications:
Being a team player - works well in a team environment
Maintaining a positive attitude
Supporting team members
Possess excellent observational skills and sensitivity to animal behavior
Must be coachable - receive and act on feedback to improve
Education:
Highschool diploma or GED
Previous experience in an animal facility is helpful
Other Requirements:
Can easily adapt to changes in routines
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks on schedule
Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and Holidays
Work in a warm, humid climate - 90+ degrees
Work in a noisy and hectic environment
Lift up to 50lbs
Stand and walk up to 8+ hours per day
