JOB SUMMARY:
The Media Specialist & Technical Writer will support Information Technology by developing illustrations, audiovisual communications, and textual content supporting Department operations. Assignments will involve working with Department personnel to identify requirements for and producing communications, selecting appropriate software and developing compelling graphics to illustrate technical concepts, and maintaining SharePoint sites and web pages. Under supervision, the Media Specialist & Technical Writer will assist in developing a wide range of Department documentation to take complex information and transform it to content appropriate for audiences ranging from end users to upper management.
Job requirements include meeting firm deadlines and critical milestones; learning SRNS and relevant section/department systems and requirements for accomplishing tasks; demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills; utilizing organizational skills; and developing technical documentation as assigned.
Facilitate planning sessions with customers and offer guidance regarding Media Services capabilities and appropriateness of design decisions. Plan, organize, and direct multi-disciplined media services to produce professional, comprehensive products appropriate for Company and Site use. Research developing multimedia technologies. Produce review drafts and incorporate editorial changes for a variety of IT products and publications, including presentations, written reports, and metrics, Collect, organize, and present data and perform data analysis to meet target audience needs. Identify and incorporate needed changes to existing reports. Draft reports as needed, summarize report findings for management and select the appropriate mode to present data effectively. Takes ownership of assigned administrative tasks, providing regular reporting as required. Develop job aids and supporting documentation and demonstrate administrative tasks to others.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
A bachelor's degree in graphic arts or a related discipline with 2 years of practical experience; or an associate degree in graphic arts or related discipline with 4 years of practical experience; or in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma with 8 years of practical experience

Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Area Security Access:
The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments. Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two years are preferred.
