FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

Description:Carroll College invites applications for our Director of Campus Security and Public Safety.  This position is responsible for providing for the leadership and oversight of college wide safety and security for Carroll College’s faculty, staff, students, and visitors and emergency management operations and activities. The position is committed to developing, supporting, and fostering a culture of safety and security, within and amongst our campus community. This position will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of safety and security programs and services throughout all college property, including but not limited to security, health and safety, fire safety, emergency management, and parking management, and proactively protecting and mitigating college strategic, operational and safety risk.  This position will also be responsible for the compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations related to campus safety, and ensuring that day-to-day security, public safety functions, and new initiatives are aligned with the College’s Strategic Plan.

The Director provides focus and attention to emergency management programs and goals, to include development and maintenance of key documents, emergency exercise and plans, training, response aspects and resources in accordance with regulatory compliance obligations and industry best practices. Serves as primary point of contact for emergency management, homeland security outreach and stakeholder engagement via outreach, training and education opportunities.   The incumbent is the leader for all security and safety related services and is expected to work some evenings, weekends and campus closure dates as part of an on-call rotation with other campus officials.

 

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice or related field and 5 years of progressively responsible law enforcement and/or emergency response experience. Proven experience cultivating and building relationships with diverse populations, and actively engaging with stakeholders to build rapport and embracing evolving needs of the community.  Understanding and appreciation for the unique needs of the students and staff who study, work, recreate and live on our campus.
