Job description
Firebird AST is seeking an onsite TS/SCI cleared Nuclear Intelligence Analyst, to support our government client at Fort Belvoir, VA. Candidate will serve as the subject matter with a focus on current/near-term events, plans, developments, and trends pertaining to WMD nuclear, weapons, fuel cycles, events, and issues impacting security, force protection, and force operability and survivability against a spectrum of nuclear WMD events.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research intelligence issues pertaining to nuclear issues in relation to the WMD threats to US and allied nations.
- Provide written input to reports and briefings.
- Answer requests for information (RFI).
- Conduct research and analytical data entries related to WMD, all for dissemination to Agency leadership and its personnel, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), and the Intelligence Community (IC).
- Serve on a unique, multi-discipline team assisting DTRA, CCMDs, and IC partners to fuse operations and intelligence information to enhance Whole-of-Government efforts against WMD threats, proliferation threats, and threat networks.
REQUIRED
- Current Top Secret/Specialized Compartmented Information Security Clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree and more than 3 years as a technical specialist with a focus on a nuclear specialty such as, nuclear fuel cycle, associated weapons development pathways, etc.
- More than 3 years of experience providing intelligence analysis for DoD and/or an intelligence agency in an analyst role, including multi-intelligence WMD.
- More than 2 years of direct experience at the strategic or operational level writing all-source analytic products.
- Practical understanding of Intel-related databases such as M3, TAC, NCTC Online, TIDE, ICReach SIGINT database, Cultweave SIGINT database, PROTON SIGINT Database.
- Practical understanding of MS Office, Excel, and big-data analytic techniques for structured and unstructured data.
- Practical understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Willing to work rotating shifts if needed - that may include nights and weekends.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
PREFERRED
- Graduate degree in a nuclear-related field and 10 years as a technical specialist with a focus on a nuclear specialty such as, nuclear fuel cycle, associated weapons development pathways, etc.
- More than 8 years of experience providing intelligence analysis for DoD and/or an intelligence agency in an analyst role, including multi-intelligence WMD.
- More than 5 years of direct experience at the strategic or operational level writing all-source analytic products.
- Practical understanding of Intel-related databases such as M3, TAC, NCTC Online, TIDE, ICReach SIGINT database, Cultweave SIGINT database, PROTON SIGINT Database.
- Expert understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- More than ten years of military and/or Intelligence Community experience.
- Well-versed in military intelligence, WMD, and counterproliferation.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, reports, policy, legal documents, etc.
- Ability to prepare reports and presentations to company management and customer(s).
- Demonstrated leadership ability, strategic and innovative thinker, and passion for the mission.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science or a related field.
CLEARANCE
- Active/current DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
