Histotechnician - Histotech

Portsmouth, New Hampshire

MUST:
Experienced Histotechnician - Histotech
Must have 2 plus years of experience as a Histotech
Must demonstrated accuracy and precision in cutting, mounting and staining of tissue sections
Must have experience working with EMR
Must have medical laboratory training
MOHS experience is highly preferred
Bachelors degree or an Associate degree in chemical, biological laboratory science highly preferred
HT/L ASCP certification or completion of Histology Technician training course highly preferred



DUTIES:
The Histotechnician - Histotech will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Responsible for processing tissue samples for path review
Performing DNA extractions
pply basic skills and may develop advanced skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the position or specialization
Ensures compliance with all local, federal, CLIA , and CAP regulations
dheres to attendance and punctuality guidelines
Maintain a clean and well-organized work area
Correctly prepares special stains and solutions
Routinely checks and verifies that surgical case numbers match blocks and slides; prints labels as appropriate
Record in laboratory logbooks all slides and stains prepared daily
Log appropriate information into the surgical pathology computer system
Follow appropriate laboratory safety protocols
Unpack orders received; dates and stocks orders, in accordance with established policies and procedures
Demonstrate skills in technical data interpretation and ability to troubleshoot
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of Internet for business use
Continuously strive to improve clinical testing, confidence and knowledge through formal and informal education
Maintain appropriate quality controls
Ensuring the lab is in accordance to all standards set forth by OSHA, CLIA and other regulatory agencies
