Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapist (SIGN ON BONUS)
ABA Therapist for Autism
Behavior Technician (BT) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Position Location: Waterbury, CT and surrounding areas
Part-Time Available (Growth to Full-Time Possible)
Salary: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
Ascend Autism (“Ascend”) is a provider of in-home autism therapy services for children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Ascend utilizes the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) while elevating the outcomes for individuals diagnosed with ASD. Ascend is committed to the success of each child, as well as the entire family.
Ascend is currently seeking ABA Behavior Technicians ("Techs" or Therapists) to join our team of professionals. Behavior Techs provide ABA services for children with autism, under the supervision and guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience working with children and/or adolescents
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Fluent in English; additional opportunities for candidates with other language fluency
- Driver's license
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy in center and/or home environments
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by BCBAs
- Collect behavior and skill acquisition data during sessions to monitor progress
- Provide regular verbal and written progress updates
- Participate in team meetings and training workshops
- Be goal-oriented and maintain professionalism in all aspects of your work
- Arrive to cases on time and remain consistent with scheduled sessions
- Follow the policies and procedures of Ascend Autism

Qualifications:
- College graduate or some college experience preferred
- If college graduate, preferred areas of study: Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Special Education or related fields
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities (preferred)
- Specific experience working in Applied Behavior Analysis (preferred)
- Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification (preferred) – see below for details
- Valid driver’s license and car insurance with access to reliable transportation

What is an RBT?
Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are therapists that work one-on-one with children diagnosed with autism and directly implement an ABA treatment plan designed and guided by BCBAs. RBTs help the children acquire new skills and work toward the goals of improving communication, social interactions, problem-solving and adaptive living skills.
Becoming an RBT
Does the role of an RBT sound like something you want to take on, but you’re concerned you don’t have the right qualifications?
Ascend provides on-the-job training for our Behavior Techs to become licensed RBTs. The 40-hour course, RBT Competency Assessment and RBT exam can all be completed in six weeks or less. Ascend will cover the costs of the course.
