The role:
We are recruiting for a senior construction specialist in Springfield! You will provide survey and construction support to the State Highway construction projects. A day in the life:
Develop digital terrain models and use other software to determine qualities of earthwork, construction materials and engineering designs.
Prepare complex field engineering designs.
Work with internal and external partners to provide resolution for conflicts and construction issues.
Create construction grades and take notes for construction projects.
Ensure that the agency’s survey policies and procedures are followed.
Review contractor provided survey data for accuracy and accuracy.
Review preliminary plans, specifications, and other construction documents to ensure that designs and appropriate measurement and payment items are included in contracts.
Join the senior construction coordinator for preliminary project development meetings to represent the construction crew and provide feedback.
Assist with coordinating construction Survey Crew work.
Attend and participate in relevant project development meetings, project team meetings and other related construction project meetings/conferences.
Work outdoors, in all weather conditions, 10% time - field work involves working around construction equipment and traffic hazards and walking on various types of terrain, stooping and bending around structures or equipment.
Work includes lifting and carrying material or equipment that weighs 40-60 pounds. Work shift may be during the day or night; be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. Limited hybrid work options available.

Comprehensive and equitable base salary offer within the listed range based on your experience, skills and education. The salary range listed is the non-PERS participating rate. Minimum qualifications:
Completion of and passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and one year of experience applying professional engineering theory, principles and methods.
Special qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

Experience using Microstation and Inroads or similar design software.
Working knowledge about mathematics, survey principles, engineering and construction practices.
Proven experience in reading and interpreting construction contract plans and specifications.
Experience communicating with a wide range of audiences.
Experience inspecting or administering highway construction projects.
