The Housing Operations Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Residential Life & Housing for Housing Operations and is a student-centered, collaborative, and intentional educator who supports the enactment of a comprehensive and inclusive on-campus residential student experience. The Housing Operations Coordinator partners closely with staff in RLH and other campus partners to assist in developing and administering housing operations and assignments. The Office of Residential Life & Housing collaborates with Clark students and campus partners to create a student-focused residential community that is inclusive, equitable, and safe. In support of that mission, the Housing Operations Coordinator provides support to the management of housing assignments, meal plan additions and changes, new student housing placement, and returning student room selection; the Housing Operations Coordinator communicates with students and families regarding applying, contracting, billing, canceling, and vacating housing assignments.

The Housing Operations Coordinator also supports the Director of Residential Life & Housing with budget stewardship, including revenue generation; billing processes with Student Accounts; vendor contract management (washer/dryers, dining, micro-fridges); and partner projects with Facilities Management, such as residence hall damage assessment and billing, as well as refresh/building updates. As a live-on professional, the Housing Operations Coordinator also participates in the RLH on-call rotation in support of student emergency response.

Strategic Management

• Responsible for correspondence about housing with prospective and current students and their families. Assists in interpreting housing assignments-related problems and concerns to staff, students, families, the University community, and others.
• In conjunction with the Assistant Director for Housing Operations, coordinate the room assignment process for all students.
• Responsible for effectively maintaining assignments-related records and facilitating an equitable process.
• Collaborate strategically with campus partners, including Admissions, Student Accounts, the Dean of Students office, and others on RLH business processes, and proactively address anticipated needs and concerns.
• Collaborate strategically with campus partners to coordinate room assignments and contractual needs for all special programs, camps, and conference participants.
• Communicate regularly with student staff, professional staff, faculty, and other campus administrators.
• Support RLH operating budgets and strategic revenue objectives.
• Assist in creating and implementing residence hall sign-up, move-in, and move-out procedures.
• Perform other related responsibilities as may be assigned.  

Departmental Leadership

• In support of the work of the department, participate in the assessment and strategic visioning for functions related to housing assignments, with particular attention toward infusing DEI frameworks, such as affinity housing application and selection, into assignments processes; partner with other campus offices to support student success and address related concerns.
• Assist with the development and assessment of housing operations policies and procedures which may include eligibility, lease agreements, petitions, retention, emergency or temporary housing, special interest housing and riders to leases. Make recommendations to refine operational procedures within Operations area to enhance maximum operations efficiency.
• Oversee resource development and support for commuter student population.
• Assist in training, organization, and supervision of Residential Life & Housing front desk student workers
• Participate in RLH on-call rotation in support of campus emergency response for students.

Campus Collaboration

• Provides Operations-related information to campus partners that support the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of students.
• Manage projects and communications for RLH and follows-up appropriately.
• Consult, support, and collaborate with other Student Affairs colleagues and campus stakeholders, such as academic departments, facilities, and dining services, to provide support to students promptly.
• Assist in the training of RLH and campus personnel on topics including move-in, move-out, room transfers, and assignments procedures and processes.
• Serve on various University committees that address Operations issues and concerns.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred; degree specialization in Higher Education Administration/College Student Personnel preferred.
• Previous experience in residential life and/or higher education.
• Knowledge of residential living and community building, housing assignments processes, and the impact of residential life on building campus cohesion and students' sense of belonging.
• Evidence of strong organizational skills; ability to exercise sound judgment and make sound decisions; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively; work well under pressure.
• Demonstrated cultural competence and experience in working with diverse communities of college students.
• Ability to respond to emergencies; understanding the appropriate management of sensitive information and records; and proficiency in promoting college student development and student success constructs within the student affairs field.
• Possess strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to review and analyze complex information.
• Experience and knowledge related to best practices and laws governing FERPA and student housing
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, The Housing Director (THD) required. Knowledge of Banner or other student information systems and Advocate or other conduct/care-related software is necessary.
