&nbsp&nbspLicense and Certification Qualifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification, Linux+, RHCSA, or LPIC required. Network+ or equivalent certification strongly desired.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Five years of experience in directory services administration, network/server hardware, and/or Operating System (OS) platforms required. Experience with Microsoft Server, RHEL, and/or AIX.

Skills Qualifications: Expert-level knowledge in concepts, methodology, and functionality of Windows Server and Linux/Unix operating systems, virtualization, security, directory services, storage, and network technologies; skills in configuration of servers and related hardware and software requirements; ability to work well and communicate with others in an effective manner, both written and oral; ability to analyze and solve problems; ability to translate needs and problems into creative solutions; strong and effective communication and customer service skills; and ability to manage projects and supervise contracted personnel with little or no assistance.

Primary Responsibilities: Provides expert-level support and advice in all technical phases of systems design, implementation, and operation in Enterprise Storage and Hosting systems and platforms.

1. Provides expert-level support and guidance to the Enterprise Hosting and Storage department. Acts as a technical lead for day-to-day operational support for server, storage, cloud, and directory infrastructure services.
a. Researches and provides technical feedback on the installation and implementation of complex systems and platforms.
b. Performs complex software, hardware, and operating system upgrades and repairs.

2. Manages the design and implementation of server, storage, and directory services resources including writing documentation, developing test plans, and ongoing evaluation of design for improvements and enhancements.
a. Leads diverse teams in the design and implementation of systems and platforms.
b. Provides expert-level support and feedback on best practices and technology.
c. Writes technical documentation describing complex, interconnected systems and platforms.

3. Performs evaluations of new and emerging technologies and their possible impact/value to GCPS.
a. As a member of the Architecture Review Board, assists in the evaluation of technologies or applications proposed by other departments and their impact to GCPS.
b. Keeps up-to-date on emerging technologies and briefs the Enterprise Hosting and Storage department on important trends.
c. Assesses and determines areas of potential impact and/or concern regarding the implementation of new applications/resources to GCPS.
d. Assists in determining the impact of potential new applications/resources to provide an environment that efficiently and effectively meets the requirements of teaching and learning while preventing/predicting potential negative impact.

4. In critical, production-down situations, provides timely and expert-level support and feedback to return GCPS systems to normal operation.
a. Provides expert analysis and troubleshooting.
b. Acts as a technical lead in the triage of emergency/crisis situations. Coordinates appropriate GCPS resources to resolve issues.
c. Engages outside technical resources such as support partners to resolve critical situations.

5. Mentors and trains team members; provides knowledge and skills transfer.
a. As required, provides guidance to junior staff in technical areas including troubleshooting, configuration, or other areas that require assistance.
b. Assists in the evaluation of the technical acumen of junior staff and provides advice on skill gaps and prescribe appropriate training/resources.

6. Assists in the monitoring, trend identification, and documentation of the health and operations of the Enterprise Hosting and Storage systems and platforms.
a. Assists in the configuration of the Enterprise Monitoring Platform to increase effectiveness and minimize false positives/negatives.
b. Analyzes trends and alerts and propose improvements in monitoring configuration and processes.

7. Provides continuous quality improvement to departmental processes.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
