The Senior Scientist will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for the systems integration and assay development of a cIEF-MS platform based on microfluidics technology, enabling direct identification of biopharmaceutical charge variants and their proteoforms. This position is part of the Research & Development team and will be located in Fremont, CA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: + Advance system integration, instrument, and application development on a capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry platform. + Design and perform experiments using the CIEF-MS platform followed by data analysis, preparation of reports and data presentation to internal and external collaborators. + Design new experiments to test new hardware, new consumables (cartridge, chip, reagents), new software and software features in collaboration with engineering, software, and R&D teams. + Troubleshoot instrumentation, propose system improvements, and optimize overall CIEF-MS experience. The essential requirements of the job include: + PhD in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field, with at least 5 or more years of experience with high resolution mass spec instrumentation and techniques in proteomics, experience in top-down proteomics and whole proteins. + Recent, hands-on experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting mass spectrometry front-end instrumentation, including different software packages for the analysis and interpretation of MS data. + Experience in developing custom methods for mass spectrometry: capillary electrophoresis sample preparation to achieve project goals. + Experience in customizing instruments/instrument development and experience in writing custom scripts/programs for instrumentation is a plus. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: + Experience in top-down proteomics and whole protein mass spectrometry, is a plus. + Experience in protein sample preparation, experience with antibodies and/or capillary electrophoresis (CZE, CIEF), is a plus. The salary range for this role is between $130,000.00 and $145,000.00, per year. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
