Job Description
Torch Technologies is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our team in support of Missile Defense Agency (MDA). In this role, you will primarily function as a SIU Operator/OSF Controller, engaging in MDA's Hardware In the Loop (HWIL) and Distributed Test Events. Your responsibilities will include the remote operation of Simulation Interface Units (SIUs) and the use of OSF software within one of three Missile Defense System - Ground Test labs.
Responsibilities and areas of support include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain active accounts with appropriate user permissions on each SIU
- Follow SIU Operator/OSF Controller procedures and document departures from normal procedures
- Monitor computer resources (e.g., available hard disk space) on each SIU and report when resources are insufficient to support testing
- Maintain daily run log sheets
- Write and follow procedures, document configuration requirements and changes, and verify system, software, and hardware settings continuously
- Report anomalous simulation behavior
- Work with M&S Integration Manager to coordinate for event connectivity requirements
- Execute simulation framework applications
- Execute post-run data collection scripts and move data to a central location for uploading to the MDA data center
- Proactively troubleshoot and overcome functional/technical problems.
Job Requirements - Bachelor's degree in STEM field preferred, experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 3 to 5 years' experience using Linux, experience writing Linux scripts is a plus.
- Good communication skills
- Enjoy participating in a multi-disciplinary team to solve technically complex problems.
- Good troubleshooting skills
- Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working as a team with other lab personnel, Integrators, Test Directors, and MDA stakeholders
- Organizational skills with attention to detail
- Occasional after hours support may be required at times.
- Must possess a minimum of a DOD Secret security clearance
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: - Linux+ Certification
- 3 to 5 years related working experience (IT industry/IT military experience)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience with the Missile Defense Agency, mission, and elements of the Missile Defense System (MDS).
