A busy OBGYN practice located in Prince Georges County Maryland is in search of a OBGYN Sonographer. The candidate must be team-oriented, friendly, and have excellent customer service skills.
Knowledge of EMDs EHR Practice Management Software is a plus.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Registered OBGYN Sonographer acts as a liaison between patients and the healthcare providers while managing all the details of a patient's care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
OBGYN Sonographer needed Full-Time & Part-Time Available.
Following established policies and procedures, performs and records ultrasound diagnostic tests:
Pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound (GYN).
Pelvic Doppler studies.
OB ultrasound including first trimester, second and third trimester, Growth ultrasound, biophysical profile and Doppler
Saline infusion sonogram
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
According to established procedures, prepares examination area by ensuring cleanliness and supplies needed; ensures proper identification of the patient, escorts patient to the exam room and explains procedure to patient. Assists and monitors patient throughout the exam.
Selects appropriate equipment and transducer setting, and adjusts equipment controls by hand or manipulation of remote control device according to specific orders and parts of body to be examined.
Photographs visual image of organs shown on display modules. Records tests results, identify structures needed and files results of sonography.
Discusses test results with physicians. Repeats process as necessary. Write reports to be signed by the physician.
Ensures files and records are properly completed with all patient information.
Performs a variety of related clerical tasks such as retrieving previous ultrasound images.
Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition and ensures same is properly supplied for diagnostic procedures. Ensures sterile packaged supplies are not damaged or outdated.
Keeps current regarding developments, trends and techniques in ultrasound procedures, and equipment through appropriate technical journals or in-service and educational programs in order to maintain and enhance expertise.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
RDMS certification is required, OBGYN is preferred. If not registered must obtain within six (6) months of employ
Work requires the analytical ability to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
Work requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in order to comfort patients and their families as well as explain clinical, technical and diagnostic procedures. Must be able to enforce policies and regulations in difficult situations, or performing other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skill.
OTHER JOB DUTIES: Completes other duties as assigned by Sonography Supervisor
WORKING CONDITIONS: Office practice setting. Use of telephone and computer and other general office equipment.
