Position Summary/Description:

The Accountant will report to the Budget Analyst for the Clinical Trial Program in FiRST. The Accountant will assist the Budget Analyst in all aspects of the Clinical Trial program and also serve with a department in a lead financial capacity. The Accountant will work directly with multiple groups and individuals across UNC School of Medicine to communicate financial objectives and results. This position will monitor, analyze and consult on multiple fund types to include OH, State, Research, and trust related financial activities, in relationship with School-wide financial strategies. The role will need to have thorough knowledge of accounting principles and program specifics and will implement system changes. This change allows for a deeper level of consultation enabling the position to assess, resolve and apply judgement based on delegated authority with accounting systems and processes. The Accountant-Journey is first point of contact to research and review policy, procedures, and regulations for regular operations as well as for unprecedented problems within FiRST.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, and direct work experience in accounting, budget management, financial oversight in an academic environment. PeopleSoft systems experience.
