Job description
We are seeking a results-oriented Operations Manager to lead our production, maintenance, tooling, and lean manufacturing functions. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations, meeting production schedules and quality standards, and fostering a safe and productive work environment. You will directly manage the Tooling Manager, Plant Engineer Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, and Production Supervisors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Management: Develop and manage first-line production schedules, plan manpower allocation, and optimize resource utilization.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to production schedules and quality requirements, proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Compliance Management: Maintain compliance with the Collective Agreement and manage employee relations effectively.
- Process Optimization: Provide guidance on manufacturing process plans, including personnel, production, maintenance, and tooling needs.
- Safety & Health: Oversee and enforce safety and health regulations across all relevant departments.
- Budgeting & Planning: Collaborate with the Controller to develop and manage budgets for production, maintenance, tooling, and lean initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion lean manufacturing principles, lead teams in implementing the Workplace System (WPS), and drive continuous improvement initiatives with the support of the Manufacturing Engineer.
- IATF & Collective Agreement: Maintain compliance with IATF requirements, including implementing WOL standards, and ensure adherence to the Collective Agreement.
- Maintenance & Tooling: Work closely with maintenance and tooling teams to manage preventive maintenance programs.
- Leadership & Communication: Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, provide effective coaching and development opportunities for direct reports, and maintain strong communication channels with all stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5-10 years of manufacturing experience with proven managerial success.
- Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, conflict resolution, cost management, material/logistics, forecasting/planning, quality management, and customer relationship building.
- Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of JIT process-based manufacturing and automotive industry preferred.
- Compliance: Experience with IATF audit processes and safety audits highly valued.
- Additional: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Lean Manufacturing training a plus.
