Position: Release Coordinator / Engineer

Location: Folsom, CA (Hybrid)

Duration: Contract (Only W2)

Job Description: 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the Director, work with Managers, Software Engineers, Product owners and Software Quality Assurance engineers to organize, coordinate and manage activities related to the software delivery and deployments to production and non-production environments. Provides coordination support to department staff for collecting and packaging artifacts for code promotion. Leverages support of team members to analyze patches for potential impacts to other systems and partners with stakeholders to resolve any issues. Defines the processes and establishes the environments for the promotion path of the final deliverables. Ensures adherence to patch promotion processes and maintains a high level of data integrity and confidentiality. Follows up with Change Management and other support teams to ensure patches are deployed in a timely fashion across environments and facilitates needed data-copies to keep environments in sync. Performs high level of checks to ensure that the deployments are successful in each environment. Ensures closure of deployment tasks once the deployment is successful.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinates releases for all technology changes affecting production and non-production environments across the organization including Change Management coordination for all patches. Communicates changes and related effects to internal customers. Tracks the progress of patches through environments and verifies proper installation of patches and assigns testers for quality assurance. Generates, collects, and supports necessary documentation for information management, reporting, and project management processes to comply with NERC CIP and SSAE16 requirements. Analyzes interdependencies across applications and environments and investigates any possible impacts to ensure excellent operating conditions in production environments
• Plans for and manages constraints for patch promotions, depending on application characteristics, to ensure a timely promotion of application changes for project and production needs in environments, including a timely back-fill in non-production environments.
• Partners with development owners to build artifacts for department applications. Provides detailed communication of the proposed changes for development patches and releases.
• Under the guidance of the product manager, creates reports, scorecards and release notes to track all changes and progress.
• Partners with Software Engineering (SE) team members to support the team to create a deployment plan for releases.
• Coordinate with product deployment teams in ensuring all inter-related systems are communicating as per defined release plan.
• Acts as a representative of the SE team for any changes to workflows managed by the Change Management team.
• Works with the SE management to maintain the IT Product Catalog.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift, or handle material or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Most of the time is spent in general office or equivalent conditions which result in little or no exposure to injury or accident.
