Position Summary The UNC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine ( DPLM ) has an open position for a Pathologists’ Assistant (PA). The successful candidate will join a team of five other PAs who currently cover the UNC Hospitals’ Gross and Frozen Section rooms, tissue procurement for the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Centers, and the Gross and Frozen Section room at UNC Hospitals Hillsborough Campus. This position will involve specimen grossing, frozen sections, teaching of resident physicians and tissue banking, among other activities. There are no on-call weekends or autopsy responsibilities. The Pathologists’ Assistants in DPLM are appointed to the faculty. As a faculty member in the UNC DPLM , competitive salary and excellent benefits are provided. Continuing education credits can be easily obtained via ongoing lectures and conferences.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements BS or MS degree, PA ( ASCP ) certification. Interest in teaching and good communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Prior clinical experience, teaching experiences, and tissue banking experience are considered an advantage.
