8:30am - 5:00pm (academic year)
8:00am - 4:30pm (summer)

Job Description: Remote work could be considered The Office of Institutional Research at Syracuse University is seeking to hire a Research Associate to contribute to the execution of research projects that inform strategic action by the University and its component units.
The Research Associate is expected to perform analyses of newly collected and previously existing data to provide the University community with actionable intelligence about issues of interest to administrators, faculty, staff, and students. We are specifically interested in hiring a person who has demonstrated skills in telling the story of data, finding key insights and communicating quantitative information in clear and compelling ways.
Qualifications: - Undergraduate degree and/or postgraduate work in a field emphasizing data collection and analysis.
- Experience in quantitative analysis and interpretation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate quantitative analysis results.
- Experience with qualitative analysis is a plus.
- Experience in institutional research or an administrative office in higher education (e.g., registrar, financial aid, admissions) is a plus.
Job Specific Qualifications: - Successful candidate must be able to concurrently contribute to multiple complex, long-term projects.
- Experience with R or similar data analysis tools strongly desired.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator or similar software desired.
- Experience with presentation software desired.
- Experience with Tableau is a plus.
- Experience with querying databases and building data set from multiple sources is a plus.
Responsibilities: - Analyze complex data sets to reveal trends, patterns, and insights. Develop written reports, presentations, and/or dashboards to present findings.
- Support OIR staff in the execution of quantitative and qualitative research projects. Methodologies include extracting existing data from University databases, surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
- Provide support to senior office staff and other research associates, as needed.
- Respond to ad hoc requests from units across the University.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of best practices in institutional research and thorough knowledge of the administrative and academic organization of Syracuse University.
