AIML - Sr Technical Writer, Siri and Information Intelligence

Apple Inc.

Location

Cupertino, CA | United States

Job description

Join the Apple engineering team that creates Siri, Search, and powerful machine-learning (ML) technologies used by all Apple products. As writers we work directly with engineers, scientists, and the wider group to build guides, tutorials, and references to facilitate engineering progress and illuminate our path forward—with unwavering attention to preserving privacy and enriching people’s lives!

Key Qualifications

Description

Your starting assignments will include writing world-class manuals and references for our internal tools, and improving existing, internal written material around on-device machine learning. The work spans the entire writing cycle from requirements gathering to publication, sometimes on tight schedules, so you’ll exercise and stretch your project management and multitasking skills. You’ll work with an editor, an artist, and a lead writer, as well as subject experts, partners, customers, and stakeholders. To shine in this role you’ll bring a love of accuracy and clear explanation, and excitement for the journey from zero to deep understanding on the topic you’re writing about. You continually hone and expand your interpersonal skills for identifying, building relationships with, and interviewing highly technical subject experts. You thrive in a dynamic, collaborative team environment. You foster alignment with clear, effective communication of status horizontally and vertically. You provide timely notifications of dependency changes and blockers. You feel a personal dedication to fairness for all people as a core principle of innovation. You welcome feedback, and favor counseling your audience over convincing them. You appreciate that effective knowledge sharing benefits from many media, not only words. For a given project you can recommend various writing approaches, sample code, artwork, or video. Have you worked successfully with illustrators and editors while using editorial standards and style guides, or are you curious and eager to learn how to? Come and join our team!

Education & Experience

Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in English, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of four years’ technical writing experience for an audience of software engineers or ML researchers, writing technical or scientific grant proposals, or performing legal analysis.
